How to Disable Bluetooth Devices in Windows XP, 2000, and 7

For those very allergic with wired devices, the fastest solution is to use Bluetooth devices such as presentation pointers, wireless mouse, wireless keyboard, and wireless headphone. But this technology is seldom used with moving around with laptops. And with the laptop's Bluetooth device enabled by default, thus it eats up power especially in "you can discover me" mode.

So, I needed to look for a way to disable it in Windows 7. Here's how I did it.

1. Go to Control Panel then open Device Manager.

2. In the Device Manager, expand Bluetooth Radios
3. Look for the device with the name containing "Built-in Bluetooth"
4. Right-click over the name and select Disable in the drop down menu.
5. It then asks you if you really want to disable the device. Just select Yes in that case.

If you want to restore the Bluetooth feature back, simply follow the same steps as above but instead of disabling it, select Enable.
